Spring Overture in Trakai Culture House

This time Trakai – Lithuanian Capital of Culture 2020 invites all Trakai and guests of the city to meet at the concert of Spring Wind Overture dedicated to Trakai. This unique concert will be performed only once in Lithuania – in the newly renovated hall of Trakai Culture House. The concert will be hosted by Leif Karlsson, Special Inspector of Music of the Swedish Armed Forces and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

Leif Karlsson is a music inspector of the Swedish Armed Forces and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. During his career as a percussionist, conductor and art consultant, Leif Karlsson has traveled the world performing Swedish music and promoting Swedish culture.

Leif Karlson started his career as a percussionist at the age of 14. During his four years of teaching music, he was an active percussionist, often working with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Opera Orchestra and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. Leif Karlsson was one of the founding members of the Kroumata Percussion Ensemble in 1978. After graduating in 1979, Leif Karlsson was appointed principal percussionist in the Västerås Symphony Orchestra and percussionist in the F1 regiment in Västerås.

In recent years, Leif Karlsson has been particularly sought after as a conductor of wind orchestras and has worked with many Scandinavian orchestras such as the Norrlandsoperan, Wermland Opera, Eskilstuna Symphony Orchestra, Bergslagen Kammarsymfoniker and Bodö, Trondheim, Västerås and Jönköping. As of 2014 he is a member of the Uppsala Symphony Brass Band and since 1991 he has been a member of – Artistic director of the Norrbotten Youth Symphony Orchestra.
